Amid the nationwide lockdown to contain the coronavirus pandemic, forest officials were left baffled when the violators turned out to be a pair of leopards in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The incident took place at Deolali, a hill station in Nashik district, on April 06.

According to sources, the big cats strayed into a residential area in search of food.

The officials who were patrolling the area were shocked to find the animals' presence.

The video shows the leopards touring the empty locality.

In their efforts to drive off the animals, an official was heard instructing his colleague to use a torchlight and direct the beam towards the predators' eyes.

However, the plan didn't work as the leopards didn't seem fazed by the official's action.

Reports said no casualties were recorded after the incident.
