Deer, Roe Deer, it's raining. Gentle summer rain doesn't stop a roe deer from browsing for lunch in wildlife garden.

Something relaxing for today's #BrightenYourDay video, No.19 in the series, in which we look back to 2019 and a magical moment in my back garden!
A roe deer carefully selects the young leaves of ash seedlings and the soft tip of a bramble shoot (before the thorns harden), ignoring the gentle summer rain. Notice the details of her behaviour, the use of her tongue to pull leaves into her mouth, in this rare opportunity to watch a deer feeding at close quarters. She appears to be completely relaxed but her ears swivel back and forth like a 360 degree sonar, sensing for danger.
One of the advantages of living on a hillside near #Stroud, #Gloucestershire, is that the bedroom window is at the same level as the tangled bank behind. Thus, the house is my hide and on a lucky day like this I get to watch wonderful wildlife from home.
This is slow TV - sit back and enjoy it - with no sound but the birdsong and raindrops on leaves: soundscape of an English summer!
