This is the moment four stranded fishermen clinging to barrels were rescued after their boat capsized.

The Thai Royal Navy spotted the sailor's shipwrecked vessel while they were patrolling the Thai gulf in Songkhla, southern Thailand last Sunday (April 5) afternoon.

They found fragments of boat floating all over the area prompting them to further their search to check for casualties.

Four men hanging on oil barrels were found by the rescue team. The victims were all alive although in a state of fatigue.

Footage shows the hapless fishing crew as they are being rescued by the navy officers.

The fishing boat captain Sutham, 65, said their boat sank after the water pump broke.

He said: "We sailed out from the shore earlier in the morning but after we arrived eight miles away from the shore, the water pump was jammed.

"It caused the water to flood the boat. Then the boat sank so we tried to hang on to whatever we could grasp and had to struggle until we were rescued."

Fortunately, none of the crew were seriously injured.

The victims were rushed back to the Navy base to receive treatment before their family came to pick them to the hospital.
