A number of traditional parents in Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, held a Ma'rompo Bamba ritual, Wednesday, April 8, 2020. This ritual aims to ward off the coronavirus from entering the Mamasa Regency.

This ritual is performed on a hill far from residential areas. This is done to maintain calm so that a number of traditional parents can focus on carrying out the ritual.

Using traditional white Mamasa dress, a number of traditional parents began to hold a ritual.

This ritual begins with the purchase of three chickens. Then three dead chickens are put into bamboo to be cooked into lemang rice.

In the ritual lemang rice is the main condition that must be provided because it is to be offered.

After offering lemang rice, then it is placed on top of Kabombongan.

Then one of the traditional parents read a prayer to ask that God Almighty could refuse the coronavirus to enter the Mamasa Regency.

According to the Mamasa Thomas Customary Institution, the Ma'rompo Bamba ritual is a ritual that has existed since ancient times. Where, this ritual is often performed when a virus attack occurs as it is today.

"This ritual is done so that the entire community is protected from the coronavirus," he said.
