The western cape department of transport and public works rolled out part of its sanitisation program for taxis at one of the biggest taxi interchanges in the province.

The sanitisation comes as part of the fight against the spread of the COVID19 virus.

The move was welcomed by the South African National taxi council and taxi operators.

During the lockdown period taxis are allowed to only carry essential workers and other passengers along routes that allow them to get to banks and food stores
