Police bar reporting on homeless protest in South Africa regarding COVID-19 conditions

During a guided media tour of the Strandfontein homeless facility in Cape Town, South Africa, law enforcement officers stopped journalists from filming homeless people who were rising up to protest conditions at the site and also prevented journalists from interviewing them.

Saamiet Moos, a video journalist with various international media houses can be seen being prevented from filming by Cape Town law enforcement officers on Thursday (April 9).

The site was created to house homeless people during the national lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus in South Africa.
