Pet dog attacked by leopard manages to escape being eaten in western India
A pet dog avoided being eaten after being attacked by a leopard in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
The incident took place on April 9 in Una city of Gir Somnath district.
Visuals captured on CCTV camera shows the dog lying on the front porch of a house when it gets up and starts pacing around the area. Suddenly, the leopard scales the wall and attacks it.
The predator drags the dog a few feet and pins it to the ground.
However, the leopard was forced to quit after a fight started between the two animals.
Fortunately for the dog, the leopard scales back the wall and leaves, being captured later by wildlife authorities.
The incident took place amid the COVID-19 lockdown, which has forced locals to stay indoors.
With the lack of human presence in public places, animals have been filmed venturing out in the open.
Tragically the dog did not survive its injuries and died shortly after being taken in for treatment.
