Sea otter plays on deserted Thailand beach
A sea otter enjoyed frolicking on a deserted beach after coronavirus restrictions kept tourists away.
The creature was rolling in the sand as the sea lapped around its body in Phuket, southern Thailand, on March 30.
Hundreds of tourists are normally packed onto the island's beaches but they have since been closed to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Evelina W a n g filmed the happy creature enjoying the empty stretch of sand on her way to the grocery store.
She said: "Some of my friends said that this is the same kind of otter that we have in Singapore.
"They usually live in large groups, so I think this one may have escaped from somewhere. When I passed by again some 30 minutes later, it was already gone."
Phuket is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand and has the highest rate of coronavirus cases outside of the capital Bangkok.
There have been 170 cases since officials began recording, leading to a lockdown, curfew and tarvel ban coming into force on the island.
Thailand as a whole has 2,473 cases and 33 deaths as of April 10.
