Scaling up their fight against the deadly novel coronavirus disease, officials in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh have stated sanitising vehicles entering the province.

The incident took place on April 11 in Solan town of the eponymous district show workers spraying disinfectants on several vehicles.

An official said the step was taken to ensure maximum protection for citizens of the state.

Different types of pumps, both small and large, are being used in the process carried out by firemen, the official added.

Meanwhile, several other states have installed disinfectant tunnels to help commuters, including bikers, get sanitised.

The move comes amid a 21-day lockdown imposed by the country's government to curb the spread of the virus.

The lockdown, which was originally scheduled to end on April 14, is likely to be extended till April 30, as per reports.
