twelve days after the approval by the Government of Royal Decree 11/2020 to help people who are in a situation of vulnerability due to the health crisis, the measures for those who live on rent or have rented premises for their business they are being insufficient for some associations, unions and also many affected. For now, the Tenants Union launched a strike on defaults last April 1 until the Government decides to suspend the payment of rents while the state of alarm lasts. To support this strike, they have launched a resistance box on the Goteo crowdfunding platform in which they have already raised 35,000 euros. Also a campaign of signatures on Change.org adds thousands of supports. It doesn't seem like an easy step to take. In Spain, a high percentage of landlords are small holders, and although the Union of Tenants assures that the idea that most of them live on their rents is not entirely true because "landlords earn 38,000 euros on average compared to 23,000 euros from tenant households (Living Conditions Survey, 2018) ”, there is no consensus on how to tackle the problem.
