A crazed wild elephant flipped over a passing pickup truck injuring the driver while it was searching for food.

The jumbo left its herd and wandered onto a road when it began stopping cars travelling through the national park in Chachoengsao, eastern Thailand, on April 9.

The elephant, named Jomdue, was seen stomping towards a silver pickup truck driven by a couple. It used its long trunk to flip the truck onto the edge of the road, injuring the woman inside.

Deputy Commander Sura Soraknit rushed to the scene while National Park staff and onlookers called for help.

The wildlife rangers led the animal out of the way and ushered it back into the woods.

Rescue workers took the injured woman to hospital to receive treatment. Her injuries were not life-threatening and she was still conscious throughout the ordeal.

Sura Soraknit said the Jomdue often goes to stop the traffic by checking the goods carried on the back of trucks.

Soraknit said: "This time Jomdue might have been too naughty and become aggressive while he was looking for food from the passing truck.

"Anyone who will be travelling on this route, we recommend you to be more careful when seeing wild animals. They will not harm humans as long as everyone remains calm.''
