Massive blaze guts acres of farmland, crops in northern India

A massive fire destroyed wheat crop across five bighas (12,646.5 meter square) of farmland in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan, leaving farmers in extreme distress.

The accident took place in Rangpur village near Kota district on April 12.

The fire was so fierce that after trying every possible way the villagers did not succeed to extinguish the fire.

When the villagers called the fire department, two firefighters reached the spot and tried to douse the blaze.

According to reports, crops in about 20 bighas (50,586 meter square) of the area also suffered damages.

A combined machine that is used for harvesting also caught fire during the accident.

It is estimated that nearly an amount of one lakh rupees wheat crop was burnt.

Assistant Fire Officer along with five firefighters helped to control the fire.
