Footage shows popular tourist areas of Bangkok, Thailand, deserted today during the Covid-19 coronavirus lockdown.

The tourism industry has been decimated after the pandemic lead to the closure of all bars, restaurants and shopping malls followed by a ban on passenger flights entering the country until the end of April.

Video shows the Khao San road backpacker destination, the Patong nightlife area followed by empty streets along the normally busy Sukhumvit Road gogo bar district.

Since recording began, Thailand has declared 2,672 Covid-19 coronavirus cases and 46 deaths as of April 16.

The country has enforced strict measures to combat the pandemic including closing zoos and other businesses, banning passenger flights, imposing curfews, sweeping travel bans and alcohol prohibition.
