Elephant strays into neighbourhood amid COVID-19 lockdown in southern India
An elephant was seen strolling on the streets in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, amid a lockdown that has forced millions of people to remain indoors.
The restrictions have been imposed by the country's government in an attempt to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.
The incident took place in Nellimalai of Mettupalayam on April 16.
Video shows the elephant walking and looking around, while locals make noise, hoping to chase it away.
According to the reports, the elephant had entered the human habitation, from the nearby forest range.
The forest officials have strictly asked the public to not leave their house amid the lockdown, as the state has recorded more COVID-19 positive cases.
