This is the moment a stray dog was rescued after getting its head stuck inside a plastic container,

Locals noticed the hapless pooch wandering around the streets of Samut Songkhram, central Thailand, on April 8.

Nattapong Ngamsanga and a team of volunteers from the Animal Lovers Association rushed to the night market, where they found the pooch in distress.

The poor dog had to be tranquillised first before they were able to carefully remove the plastic container from its head. Th rescue lasted for about 30 minutes.

The kindhearted volunteers then waited until the woke up from the calming drug and gave him food and water.

Nattapong said the hungry stray was trying to eat leftover food in the tub and was stuck after putting its whole head in.

He said: ''The dog was difficult to catch because it kept running away from people who tried to help. So he needed to tranquillised.

''I hope this is a lesson for people not to leave rubbish on the streets. The waste products can cause many problems for animals.''
