This is the moment a wild elephant charged forest officials in southern India.

The men from the forest department spotted the animal near a check post at Sadivayal near Coimbatore on April 14th.

They tried to drive the elephant off by making a loud noise and shouting but the 10-year-old animal charged, forcing them to flee inside.

Fortunately, it did not attempt to break in and just toppled a chair before wandering off.

Two officials, who were inside the building, made loud noise and shouted to drive the elephant away.

The 10-year-old elephant instead of going away got provoked and charged at them forcing them to flee inside. It luckily did not attempt to break in, just toppled a chair kept outside and went away.

In a tragic turn of the events, local villagers found the elephant on the ground and unable to move on April 15. A team of forest officials and vets rushed to the spot and tried to revive it. But the animal failed to respond to the treatment and passed away.

“It had got into a fight with a large tusker and was injured in the lower jaw. It was unable to feed and had roamed for the last few days in the forest exhausting itself,” said a forest official.
