Doctors without Borders, (Medi Sans Frontiers) has advised that the srrandfontein camp in cape town be de comissioned.

This comes after numerous Non Governmental organisations and community members have reported conditions in the camp is undesirable.

Earlier today the head for HIV & TB for the MSF Dr LLes van Cutsem attempted a second visit to the camp but was denied entry by the municipal police who fall under the jurisdiction of the City of Cape Town municipality.

The Camp was constructed as part of the City of Cape Towns attempt to provide safe spaces for Homeless individuals during the national lockdown in South Africa. The lock down was implemented to curb the spread of the feared Covid -19 virus

The camp currently houses 1600 homeless from across Cape town and Dr van Cutsem says the they have witnessed violence and conditions are unfavourable.
