Housing challenges continue in cape town after lockdown

Following the demolition of homes by the city of cape town municipal police, the western cape high court ruled that the residents be allowed to be returned to their homes.

Tents have been given to thge community on loan by Gift of the Givers relief organisation until such time their homes are reconstructed and ready for occupation.

The national minister of human settlements, water and sanitation visited the site today and clarified who will be allowed on the land.

Minister Lindiwe Sisulu reiterated that the illegal occupation of land is not an option irrespective of the National Lockdown as there are processes to follow.

South Africa is in day 24 of a national lockdown to curb the spread of the feared covid 19 virus
