A mother from the Philippines thought of a clever way to stop her toddlers from raiding the fridge for snacks - by putting a scary face on the shelf.

Footage shows Audrielle Bayucan, aged two, getting spooked and bursting into tears when she sees the scary picture that greeted her when she opened the refrigerator door.

Mother, Deen Bayican, said that when her children are bored, they always think of opening the fridge and looking for snacks, even when they are not hungry.

She said: "This way, I can teach them self-control, and I think it is effective."

The video was taken inside their family home in Quirino, Isabela on April 10.
