Rehabilitating baby leatherback turtles eat jellyfish in pool
Footage shows three baby leatherback turtles feeding on transparent jellyfish inside their aquarium at a marine life rehabilitation center in Thailand.
Fishery officer Kantaphong Wongwilai recorded the creatures last Saturday (April 11) while his team was feeding the aquatic animals at the Sanctuary of Marine and Coastal Resources, in Phang Nga, southern Thailand.
Kantaphong said: "These three were separated from their four hundred siblings because they have health problems. We will take care of them until they are strong enough to live on their own."
The three baby turtles are named Nune, Jane, and Bow.
In the video, the three little turtles are happily diving underwater surrounded by their jellyfish meals. When one of them started eating, the other two joined in and tried to gulp some jellies too.
Leatherbacks primarily eat jellyfish which is why they get attracted to plastic bags which resemble jellies floating underwater.
The baby leatherbacks will be taken care of at the aquarium until they big enough to be returned to the ocean.
