Police used rubber bullets and stun grenades on Tuesday (April 21) in violent clashes with residents of Khayelitsha, Cape Town's largest township.

The clashes erupted after security forces demolished a number of shacks illegally built on open ground during a nationwide lockdown aimed at limiting the spread of coronavirus.

At least two people were arrested.

Just over 36 hours prior to the clash land was cordoned off by hope fulls as they tried to secure land to construct a home.

Two people were arrested during the process.
