Male elephant uses tree trunk to scratch an itchy behind
Footage filmed at Kruger National Park in South Africa from April 23, shows the lone elephant leaning his butt against the tree trunk and move side to side for a satisfactory scratch.
The filmer told Newsflare: "During the lockdown period in South Africa, I am in the privileged situation to be isolated in a wilderness area of the Kruger National Park. While there are no safaris at the moment, nature continues to flourish, not bothered by the troubles of the outside world.
"I was out exploring when I came across a lone bull elephant standing at a mud wallow. The male elephant looked like he just finished his mud bath and slowly approached a large tree.
"It looked like the elephant was enjoying the soothing experience of getting rid of the nasty itches and insects irritating his skin. The elephant bull then decided it was time for another very important and hard to reach body part to be scratched and cleaned.
"It was really funny to watch but at the same time amazing to see how mother nature has her own ways of keeping safe and healthy."
