It's all very well having a thick shaggy coat to keep warm in the cold, rainy forests of the Virunga Volcanoes, but if you are a mountain gorilla, you can't take your coat off on a sunny day! And then there's the maintenance... here, Ubumwe, #silverback leader of the Amahoro Group in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, sits and grooms bits of twig, moss and an occasional insect from his hairy legs, then decides it is too nice a day for all that and rolls onto his back in a classic gorilla sun-bathing pose.

Note: #MountainGorilla tourism has been suspended for the duration of the #Covid19 #pandemic, as a precaution against this potentially deadly disease infecting the #gorillas (thankfully, no apes have yet tested positive with this new #coronavirus but many pathogens can cause jump between closely related species and cause disease). In the meantime, why not take a virtual visit to the Virungas via www.vEcotourism.org or by downloading Ape App VR and the vEco Tours app, both free and for use with or without a #VR headset.

This is No.37 #BrightenYourDay video to lift your spirits during #lockdown.
