Aerial footage shows 16 wild elephants that wandered out of their jungle habitat towards nearby villages looking for food.

Park rangers were alerted to the herd of elephants has moved out of the forest and into the villages in search of fruit trees in Nakhon Nayok, eastern Thailand on April 22.

Wildlife staff from the Khao Yai National Park prevented the animals from scaring locals and rampaging through farms and gardens eating the fruits and vegetable produce.

The jumbos were later led back into the deep woods where they were seen on video foraging among trees for food.

One staff said: "All the elephants are healthy and have sufficient food in the jungle. We have to try to keep them away from homes to reduce the conflict between animals and humans.''
