A wedding shop owner has switched to delivering food after the coronavirus closed his businesses - and his delivery men wear the colorfurful dresses.

Phakkapol Wangsakarn, 28, said all of his dress orders were cancelled so he made his friends and partners, who were the male delivery riders, to wear them to attract customers on his new business venture in Ubon Ratchathani, northeastern Thailand.

Footage shows the lads wearing women's dresses waiting to deliver Som Tam, a popular salad dish in Thailand, to their customers' houses.

Phakkapol said the marketing trick had been popular and also cheered up people who are stuck at home during the Covid-19 restrictions.

The businessman said: "The orders at my shop were all cancelled after the government issued a strict measure prohibiting activity that will involve many people including weddings.

"But my bills weren't canceller, so I had to find a way to cover those. Luckily I have learned a great Som Tam recipe from my friend's mother.

"Selling anything in this period is not easy so I let my friends and partners who also lost their businesses to come to my shop and work to deliver the food while wearing dresses.

"The feedback was better than we have expected and now I can make enough money to cover staff's wages and th expenses from the shop that's closed.''
