Officers from India's Forestry Department were called to a village in Telangana state to remove a large wild crocodile which had wandered onto a farm.

Agricultural workers from Wanaparthy spotted the reptile on April 23rd and, concerned for their safety, called in the experts.

Footage showed the rescuers lassoing the snapping crocodile's snout and then pulling it out of a canal close to the farmer's fields.

The croc was released soon afterwards in a nearby dam.

Panic settled among villagers when they found a crocodile had ventured into the agricultural fields in southern India.

The incident took place at Wanaparthy in Telangana on April 23, 2020.

After spotting the reptile, the locals informed the forest officials who rushed to the spot to rescue the crocodile.

According to sources, the animal had travelled through the Bhima canal and had entered the fields of farmers sometime during the night.

The video shows the rescue officials throwing a knot tied to an end of a rope at the crocodile.

Following this, they manage to get a grip of the animal's snout.

After several attempts, they successfully haul the animal out of the water and have shifted it back to its habitat at Jurala Project.
