Detroit fishermen cleanup local waterways in effort to combat waste
Trash Fishing is a fun new activity. Instead of fishing for fish, we go fishing for trash and we clean up our waterways. Trash Fishing was invented by Mark Nardone who was 11 years old at the time. In 2019 we removed over 3,500 lbs. of trash from our waterways.
We even host Trash Fishing contests. They are like a bass fishing contest, but we fish for trash. We give away trophies for whomever collects the most trash, the biggest piece of trash and the most unusual piece of trash. Trash Fishing is fun and a great adventure. You never know what you will find Trash Fishing.
