This is the shocking moment a bus full of passengers ploughed into an oncoming car after being clipped at a junction where the traffic lights were broken.

The coach was approaching the lights while they were flashing amber in Saraburi, central Thailand last Tuesday evening (April 21).

However, creeping out from the other side was a mini van which pulled into the path of the bus and clipped its bumper. The lights in that direction were not working correctly, according to local media.

Blocking the minivan driver's view of the oncoming bus was also an articulated lorry that had stopped at the lights.

The bus was hit and thrown off course straight into the path of a car in the opposite lane that was travelling towards the lights.

Terrifying dash cam footage shows how the bus smashed into the car, flipping onto its side. The driver was injured and rushed to the hospital where he was last reported to be in a stable condition.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Pichai Chaiyakul said officers are now investigating the crash to find who was at fault.

The police chief said video of the incident should be a reminder to road users to drive more carefully.

He said: "Drivers approaching an intersection should be mindful of safety at all times."
