This is the moment a python ventured onto a beach that was deserted because of the coronavirus.

The 8ft long snake appeared from nearby woodland and darted across the beach on Koh Rong Sanloem island in Cambodia.

It took refuge under a wooden rowing boat before locals ushered it back into the undergrowth on April 24.

The island is normally busy with backpackers and holidaymakers enjoying the sea but visitors have pluged due to the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving the beach unusually quiet.

Onlooker Sam Te said: ''Normally the snakes stay in the forest so this one must have felt comfortable enough to come onto the sand during the day.

''I think the snake was scared of us when we saw it because it tried to get away from us. There was nothing to worry about though.''
