World Laughter Day celebrated under lockdown, online

Dr Madan Kataria & Ms Madhuri Kataria, the creators of laughter yoga and of World Laughter Day, join people from around the globe, online, to celebrate together

Laughter yoga is a modern exercise involving prolonged voluntary laughter, as it provides similar physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. It is usually practiced in groups, with eye contact and lots of playfulness between participants, often turning into real and contagious laughter. It was popularized by Indian family physician, Dr Madan Kataria, and his yoga teacher wife, Madhuri Kataria. They launched a first club in 1995, and there are now thousands of them around the world. They established in 1998 this World Laughter Day, aiming at building up a global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter, and at helping reach world peace ideally. And they created the Bollywood laughter yoga dance featured here.

The session lasted 1H45.
