A woodland in the Peak District National Park, came alive to the sound of the Dawn Chorus this morning (Monday 4th May)
The wooded area next to Ladybower Reservoir in the Upper Derwent Valley is 2 miles from the nearest busy road, and with lock down measures in place due to coronavirus, the normal sounds of birds singing become more clear & louder, as there is no interference from humans. such as overhead aircraft or motor vehicles. Woodland birds such as Tawny Owl,Cuckoo,Woodpigeon,SongThrush,Robin,Wren,Willow Warbler,Coal Tit,Chaffinch,Blackbird can be heard echoing throughout the valley as well as Canada Geese & Mallards from the nearby reservoir.The Dawn Chorus can be heard between March & July with the peak being between May & June before sunrise.
