This is the shocking moment a speeding car allegedly trying to beat a red light smashed into a motorcycle rider and his partner.

The two victims, motorcycle rider and pillion passenger, were on their way home when a white sedan clattered into them in Bangkok, Thailand on April 11.

The impact of the collision sent the motorcyclist flying across the intersection with his girlfriend sprawled on the ground before the car driver reportedly fled the scene.

Police believe the car was being driven illegally and are now searching for the person behind the wheel.

The injured motorcycle rider said he was worried about his girlfriend who was unable to move after the collision. They were both taken to hospital and have seen recovered from the ordeal.

He said: "I checked the road before crossing the intersection, but it all happened so fast. The driver of the car suddenly appeared.

"We hope everyone is more careful when driving a car and have the proper license before going on the road.''
