A Thai elephant camp now livestreams their shows on the Internet after the coronavirus pandemic restricted tourists from visiting.

The camp owner, Romthongsai Meephan, has instructed all keepers to do livestreams on Facebook believing that the cheerful elephant shows will delight the community under the pandemic lockdown.

The livestream feature eight jumbos together with a mahout dressed in bright red Thai style clothes gathering at the outdoor squarein Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, central Thailand, on April 19.

They started the show with playful dances before cycling the colorful hula hoops with their strong trunks. Some of the creatures also stand on metal tables and rear up on their hind legs.

Romthongsai, who is seen leading the show in the video, said: "We came up with this idea because we wanted to entertain people and brighten up their days during this hard time.

"I hope when the situation has improved, travelers will visit us again. Moreover, we also hope that the government will support us financially."

All zoos and elephant camps have been closed in Thailand to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Tourists have also been banned from entering the country since the end of March, causing revenue for business in the tourist industry to plummet.
