Manja, the banned glass coated kite string, continued to injure birds and animals even humans some times.

An Owl stuck on a tree after it had got entangled in kite string in Nagerkoil district of Tamilnadu.

Chinese kite sting called Manja which is coated with glass is quite often a threat to birds that fly on sky. Nagerkoil fire department officials got a call from the public stating that an owl is injured and is struck in the nearby coconut tree and it's fighting for its life. Fire department personal rushed to the spot and one quickly climbed on the coconut tree and caught the owl and cut off the Manja string has cut through its wings. The fire personal cut through the Manja and sent the bird to the nearby vet hospital.

Incidents like this continue inspite of the ban levied to use the Manja strings for flying kites.
