A pet dog saved its owners from a snake attack by biting the creature before it could get into the living room.

The Jack Russell named Dookdik started barking at the reptile outside the family home in Khon Kaen, north eastern Thailand.

Owner, Oat Kittdesdamkerng, recorded the brave mutt as it launched a defence of the property by striking out at the serpent.

Other family members also witnessed the heroic scene. The snake was later identified as a Golden Tree Snake, also called a Flying Snake which is slightly venomous.

Oat said: "It's lucky for us that no one was harmed by the snake. Thanks to Dookdik who is very caring, all of us were safe."
