Lucky escape for officials as rogue elephant charges at vehicle in southern India
Panic gripped the villagers as a wild tusker strayed into their cropland in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The incident took place at Sarkarpathy area near Pollachi on May 9.
The video shows a giant elephant stomping across a field and destroying the fencing.
Following this, the animal proceeds to raid the cropland.
Locals alerted the forest department officials who rushed to the spot to rescue the tusker.
The officials use firecrackers to scare the animal away and pursue it into the forest.
However, the tusker proceeds to charge at them. Fortunately, they manage to escape in time.
