Deer crashes through roof into house, rescued by forest officials in Mumbai
Residents were woken up in the middle of the night by a spotted deer, that came crashing down the roof of their house in western India's Maharashtra.
The incident took place in the Powai area of Mumbai on May 10.
According to sources, the deer fell on the roof, crashed through the surface and fell inside.
The video shows the bewildered deer sitting inside the house while locals gather to get a glimpse of the situation.
The quadruped tries to stand up but slips and falls on the ground.
Visuals showed rescue officials reaching the spot and suing nets to wrap the deer and carry it back to the wild.
After several minutes of wrapping the deer in the net, officials carry the animal to a van and take it to a forest, where they release it.
It is also being speculated that the animal might have slipped into the room while being chased by a leopard.
The nearby Sanjay Gandhi National Park is known to be inhabited by many leopards and sightings of the cat species are not uncommon in the vicinity.
A seven-member rescue team, including animal welfare groups from Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW), Plants and Animals Welfare Society (PAWS-Mumbai), and forest officials rescued the animal on May 10 early morning.
According to rescue officials, after the fall, the animal was in shock and could not move inside the house for a while.
