Theaters, cinemas, museums and shopping centres have reopened across Czech Republic on Monday (May 11), the latest in series of easing measures aimed at reopening the country.

The country has so far managed to escape the worst of COVID-19 with 270 deaths and more than 8,000 infections.

A big wave of release measures came into effect in the Czech Republic on May 11, with the largest amount of planned reopenings.

Czech theaters, cinemas, museums, outdoor restaurant seatings, stores in shopping malls, and concert venues are now officially reopened. Wedding ceremonies and other group events are possible for up to 100 people. Barbershops, beauty salons, and massage services can also resume operations.

“Back to life. A few weeks ago, we couldn’t imagine going to a restaurant garden or a hairdresser. That will become a reality tomorrow.” - health Minister Adam Vojtěch said on his Twitter on May 10.

This video features people standing in line for beer at the outdoor beer garden; an increased number of people gathering together in the public parks; Prague's shopping mall being reopened; the announcement at Prague's supermarket stating that it's back to its usual opening hours; and Prague's public transport with an increased number of passengers sitting next to each other.

May 25 will become the final date of reopening businesses in the Czech Republic’s multi-step plan, with the final remaining locations allowed to reopen from that date. Those locations include the indoor areas of restaurants, zoos, and Czech castles. The Czech government has also decided to end the mandatory requirement to wear a face mask in outdoor public spaces on May 25.
