Huge Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) ship British Sapphire was seen passing Sheerness in Kent just before it arrived at the National Grid's Isle of Grain LNG facility on May 12, before departing on May 13.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled down to liquid form for ease and safety of non-pressurized storage or transport.

British Sapphire is operated by BP and can carry a cargo of 155,000 cubic metres of liquefied natural gas. It is equipped with a dual-fuel diesel-electric (DFDE) propulsion system that increases their fuel efficiency and reduces fuel costs. The ship was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries Limited in Korea.
