The supercyclone is said to be one of the most dangerous cyclones to hit eastern India.
The areas that are on a high alert are Odisha, Bengal in India and also Bangladesh.
As per the meteorological department of India, it will weaken by the time it reaches Bangladesh but poses a great threat to the Indian state of West Bengal.
The residents were evacuated before the landfall by a team of NDRF officials.
