Train ferrying 1,600 Indians stranded in western Gujarat due to coronavirus finally arrive at home in central Chhattisgarh after 30hr journey

Migrant labourers and their families arrived at home in in central India's Chhattisgarh on Tuesday after making the 800 miles, 30-hour journey from western Gujarat.

Some 1,600 people had been stranded due to the coronavirus lockdown in India.

Video filmed on Tuesday shows the migrants arriving at Mahesana Railway Junction, located in Gujarat's Mehsana district.

According to sources, the passengers were checked for the novel coronavirus and underwent a thermal screening before boarding the train.


The distance is around 800 miles. It normally takes 30 hours.
