Civet strays into residential area, rescued by forest department officials in central India

A civet was rescued by the forest department officials after its throat got stuck in a plastic box in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place at Nayapura Road of Mandsaur district on May 18.

According to reports, the animal strayed into the residential area in search of water.

Following this, while drinking water from a plastic container located nearby, it's throat gets stuck inside the box.

Seeing the animal struggling to free itself locals rushed to rescue the animal.

Meanwhile, the forest department team was alerted who reached the spot to rescue the mammal.

The officials tied a rope to the box and pulled it out of the animal's throat, following which, the civet rushed into a hole in the ground nearby.

They used the rope to haul the animal out of the hole.

Reaching to the surface, the civet tried to attack the officials, however, was quickly restrained.

The video shows the forest officials restraining the civet inside a cage and transferring it for release in a safe environment.
