PT Bumi Sarimas Indonesia's employees who took action on Monday 18 Mai 2020 have their own reasons for taking to the streets.

Hundreds of workers were holding a demonstration because they assessed that the production carried out by the company remained smooth during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"For production so far, but our salaries are not paid. So we are demonstrating," said a demonstrator, Efri (53).

He said, some employees who worked at the company were laid off, while others continued to work as usual.

"The schedule for coming to work is changing. So each worker only receives a wage of 50 percent compared to normal," he continued.

Meanwhile, Padang Pariaman Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner for Police (AKBP) Zamroni, who mediated the matter, said that the company would pay in installments.

"The company said that I met with four friends of men and women, they could not decide for their own payment. They had to seek central approval first," he said.

"Earlier, they had contacted the center and the agreed one month salary payment in April and will be paid tomorrow," he continued.

That way, he hopes the workers who carry out the action can accept the decision and return to their homes.
