Photographer Stephen Lee captured this footage and perfectly describes the scene - "This is a timelapse sequence of a small thunderstorm passing through Los Alamos County, New Mexico. The storm is dropping sheets of rain over the Jemez mountains (seen in the background) as well as circulating within the cloud structure and falling from the sky closer to the camera (as seen in the sky). This was a sequence of multiple shots, converted to black and white to highlight the rain movement and cloud structures, and processed into a time lapse sequence. Storms like this are typical in the high deserts of northern New Mexico (the camera was located at about 6,500 ft elevation)."
