Hong Kong protesters gathered in the Causeway Bay commercial and shopping district on Wednesday (May 27) to chant protest slogans against a law criminalising ridicule of China’s national anthem.

Footage filmed around 11:30 am in Hysan Place shopping mall shows crowds chanting slogans. One protester is also seen carrying a sign reading: "One country two systems is a lie."

Despite calls from telegram channels and LIHKG forums to besiege the LegCo to prevent the second reading of the bill criminalizing offences to the China national anthem, a police lockdown in the area prevented any attempt to break through the cordons as one year ago. Instead, around 11.30, some protesters met in Hysan Place, a mall in Causeway Bay to chant slogans. One of them held a board with the mention "One country two systems is a lie".
