A protester was seen begging police to stop shooting during a George Lloyd protest in Minneapolis on Tuesday (May 26).

Video filmed outside Minneapolis' 3rd precinct on East Lake Street shows a man on his knees shouting "please don't shoot people, please I am begging, don't shoot" as police fire tear gas.

Protestors and bystanders surrounded the Police Station on East Lake St. to express hurt, anger, frustration and enough is enough after the killing of George Floy’d by Minneapolis Police Officers.

After hours of peaceful protests at the Police Staton things changed up before night fall. On one side of the building people promoted calm, peace, chants and support. On the other side of the station the complete opposite. People chanted but also broke windows, smashed police cars, spray painted and fought one another.

To my surprise a lot of the people doing these things were white people. I saw them doing these things and thought “are they helping the cause or making it seem like blacks are the cause of this.”
We’ve had enough but this wasn’t their battle yet they caused so much damage.

The police finally came out and drove up ready to fight back. They shot tear gas, threw smoke bombs of tear gas and sprayed mase into the crowds as they approached. I too was tear gassed, it was my first experience and it was painful.

This video shows the crowd after the police came out and how they made the crowd back away from their station. How we put our hands up to show that we came in peace while others threw bottles, rocks and other objects at them. The tear gas didn’t run people away neither did the downpour of rain.

No justice, no peace and as you can see the police and the people are ready to stand their ground no matter what. Filmed by Shanta Mayweather
