Masts from 'bomb ship' SS Richard Montgomery in Kent, UK to be removed
It has recently emerged that the Ministry of Defense published a message in January, stating their intention to tender for the masts of the dangerous wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery to be removed, with the contract to be awarded by September.
The controversial sunken wreck, lying in the Thames Estuary 1.5 miles north of Sheerness and close to the Medway and Thames shipping lanes, is still believed to have 1,400 tonnes of explosives onboard.
Footage of the masts taken from the shore at low tide today 29 May.
