This is the gruesome moment a Golden Tree snake swallowed a monitor lizard whole for lunch.

Pedestrian Kong Theerapong noticed the two reptiles under a tree in Bangkok, central Thailand on May 7.

In the video, the serpent is half-way through swallowing the young lizard. It slowly swallowed its lunch with mouth wide open.

Kong said: "I did not know that the lizard will surrender to the tree snake. I guess the lizard might have been bitten before so it was unable to fight the snake. It turned to be the vermin's meal."

Golden Tree Snakes can be found in forests, gardens and sometimes, houses. It is regularly found throughout Thailand, especially in the inner city areas of Bangkok and Pattaya. Its venom is mild and does not have much effect on humans.
