Locals of a village in eastern India's Odisha witnessed a rare moment where a cat played with a small snake.

The incident took place in Baripal village of Kendujhar district on May 31.

Visuals showed the snake slithering along the ground before being intercepted by the cat.

After picking up its reptilian friend, the feline takes it back under a cot, where it plays with the snake.

The cat was seen using its paw to pat the snake while the latter tried dunking, keeping the feline on its toes.

Witnesses said it was a strange interaction between the two as they could not deem if the cat was being friendly or just curious about the snake.

Fortunately, neither the cat, not the snake was hurt before they parted ways.
