Thousands gathered in Paris on Tuesday (June 2) over the 2016 death of Adama Traore.

The protests were organized by Assa Traore, whose brother Adama Traore died while being detained by police.

The demonstration had been banned by police citing limits on the size of public gatherings due to the coronavirus epidemic.

The protest later turned violent with police firing tear gas to disperse protesters, who set up burning barricades.
